01

Life Insurance Working Party

The Life Working Party has continued to play a crucial role in developing credible, Kenya-specific actuarial data for life insurers. Over the past year, the team has completed both a persistency study and a mortality table review, two landmark projects that will form the foundation for more accurate pricing, reserving, and solvency assessments. Beyond research, the working party continues to engage with insurers and regulators to interpret results, promote best practice, and strengthen the overall life insurance risk framework in the Kenyan market.

Public Policy Working Party

Since its launch, the Public Policy Working Party has already demonstrated the growing relevance of actuarial insight in shaping public and regulatory policy. The team has hosted two well-attended webinars on Social Health Authority (SHA) reforms and Fixed Motor Insurance pricing that have deepened dialogue between actuaries, government, and industry. Through these engagements, the working party is positioning TASK as a trusted technical advisor on policies that influence financial inclusion, health coverage, and long-term economic resilience.

IFRS 17 Working Party

The IFRS 17 Working Party has been instrumental in guiding Kenya's transition toward compliance with international financial reporting standards. Its members have led multiple training sessions, including an extensive industry training at ZEP-RE, focusing on actuarial modelling, data requirements, and disclosure processes under IFRS 17. By creating shared learning spaces and supporting insurers in applying the new standard, this working party continues to ensure that actuarial expertise remains integral to transparent and reliable financial reporting.
